Back in 2000, we started off with a small database of the top companies in the Middle East and North Africa — currently over 15,000 firms are researched and monitored by an in-house team of 100 analysts - and soon after we added news, research and data from all kinds of providers focusing on regional markets, sectors, and macroeconomics. Our company coverage is the bedrock of our business. Along with our news and research services, it has evolved to capture specific opportunities in several industry segments and asset classes in the region.
Our solutions don´t just reactively address the issue of business transparency with online information, but actually connect professionals to relevant business opportunities with online networks, and address inaccessibility with online marketplaces and unique technology applications.
Our homepage receives almost 1 million visitors a month and we reach over 120,000 registered members with our daily, weekly, and monthly newsletters.
Zawya´s production unit operates through two distinct divisions focusing on professionals interested in Business Opportunities and Investment Opportunities, specifically set up to enable them, and the wider communities they belong to, according to these two needs.
Membership feedback is extremely important to us, so we go where our members tell us to go and listen carefully to what they have to say about our services. We prefer the personalized approach to make each member feel their need is being catered to, one by one, with continuous membership support and access to our in-house analysts.
Zawya started off as a very simple idea to bring more transparency to the Middle East business environment, and was invested in to enable professionals find, assess, and connect to the right business and investment opportunities in the region — so we actively pursue helping other entrepreneurs, start-ups, and SMEs with the right promotional and connectivity tools to reach potential clients and investors.
Zawya is proud to be a founding partner of the SME Evolution Program, the first free web-based training program of its kind which aims to enhance the global competitiveness of thousands of MENA Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The other program partners include Harvard Professor Michael Porter's AllWorld Network, Google, Intel, Aramex, and Potential.
We also recently became the Business Community Partner for AllWorld's Arabia 500, the first-ever ranking for fast-growing SME's in the region, which will put them on the world map and allow them to greatly improve their chances of success. The Arabia 500 ranking will be announced on 16-17 November 2011 during the AllWorld Arabia 500 Awards & Global Summit, under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan.
